Roborock vs. Roomba vs. eufy
The three brands people put against each other, read off the figures each maker publishes and the ones it leaves blank, then judged against one house: hard floors and rugs, a shedding dog, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted.
On a house with hard floors and rugs, a shedding dog, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted, the eufy X10 Pro Omni and the Roborock Q8 Max+ both clear every limit their makers publish, and both clear them at a limit, because neither maker's spec sheet prints how far the mop lifts over a rug and this house has rugs and wants a mop. The iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo is the one the page cannot judge at all: iRobot publishes no anti-tangle brush for it, and a shedding dog is the one thing this house asked about that a maker has to answer. If your floors are hard throughout with no rug to mop around, that blank stops counting and both the eufy X10 Pro Omni and the Roborock Q8 Max+ clear every check outright, which you can see for yourself by setting the floors to hard in the adjust box.
The brands differ most in what they are willing to print. eufy fills in the most rows on this page and iRobot the fewest: no suction figure in pascals for any Roomba here, no threshold, no anti-tangle brush. Only eufy publishes a threshold, which makes the eufy X10 Pro Omni the only one of the three the page can check against a door saddle. All three state a self-emptying dock, but eufy alone never says how long its bag lasts. A blank cell is the maker's silence, and the page leaves it blank rather than reading it as a pass or a fail.
Product links on this page will be affiliate links when the site goes live; they do not change which units are picked. How that works.

Who this is for
Read on if you have narrowed it to these three brands and want the makers' own figures next to each other, with the gaps marked, before you weigh a lab's cleaning score. The house here is hard floors and rugs, a shedding dog, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted, and all 14 units in the roster are judged against it, not only the three named on this page. If you have not narrowed it to a brand yet, start with The best robot vacuum for pet hair on hard floors, which ranks the whole roster instead of taking a side. And if a mop-lift height is what you came for, none of these three makers prints one on the pages we capture, so no ranking here can turn on it.
Against the same house
The house is hard floors and rugs, a shedding dog, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted, and each of those wants becomes a check against something a maker has to have published. Mixed floors means the page asks for a mop that lifts clear of a rug. A shedding dog means it asks for an anti-tangle brush. Wanting the dock means it asks the maker to say, in writing, that the dock empties the robot. Against those checks, 2 of the 14 units in the roster clear everything outright, 5 clear them only at a limit, and 7 cannot be judged at all because a maker left a cell empty. Neither of the two that clear outright is a Roborock, a Roomba or a eufy.
The three brands on this page land in different places for different reasons. Every one of them states a self-emptying dock, but only Roborock and iRobot say how long its bag lasts; eufy leaves that blank. eufy and Roborock both state an anti-tangle brush and iRobot does not, which is the check that moves the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo out of the judged group entirely. eufy publishes a threshold height and neither rival does. None of the three prints a mop-lift height on the pages we capture. Put your own floors, pets and wants in the adjust box and the whole roster is re-judged, not only these three.

Our pickeufy X10 Pro Omni
Fits this house most closely on the rows the makers fill in

$450 at Amazon, September 17, 202621 mm threshold, up totwo spinning pads mopself-emptying dock
The eufy X10 Pro Omni fits most closely because eufy fills in more of the rows this house turns on than either rival: 8,000 Pa of suction, two spinning pads the dock washes and dries, a self-emptying dock, an anti-tangle brush for the dog, camera obstacle avoidance, and the only threshold figure among the three picks, 21 mm. It also comes closest to a straight answer on mopping, since Vacuum Wars reports the pads press down harder than most robots it has tested and lifted dried-on coffee and grape juice completely. Vacuum Wars called it flagship features at strong value with app and pickup nitpicks; TechGearLab's objection is noise, and it is a loud one.

Living with it
Eufy's schedule treats the mop pads, filter and side brush as replacements every few months, and the warranty excludes those parts, a running cost the sticker does not cover. The dock does the rest, and owners report it washes and dries the pads and refills the mop tank without being asked. Setup wants the slower Wi-Fi band, and eufy does not mention the faster one. The robot's buttons pause a job, send it home or spot clean with the app shut. eufy says to power down and unplug before cleaning the dock, and to leave anything deeper to an authorized technician. Warranty is 1 year on the robot and the station.
Owners report a buggier, laggier app than rivals', with the live map trailing the robot, and false positives on the obstacle sensors that make it swerve around large debris rather than pick it up. Vacuum Wars found the front brush weaker on fine grit on hard floors. TechGearLab reports the square body cleans flush into corners but lets tiny debris slip past at the edge, and its lab found it the loudest robot in its comparison group. eufy also warns that tasseled or high-pile rugs jam it, and sets a rug thickness ceiling lower than the threshold height it advertises, so measure the rug and not only the doorway.

| Also noted | Square-ish shape let it clean flush against walls and corners, though tiny debris sometimes escaped suction at the edges | TechGearLab |
- Vacuum Wars concluded the X10 Pro Omni delivers flagship-level features and strong value despite minor app and pickup nitpicks. Vacuum Wars
- TechGearLab flagged noise as the X10 Pro Omni's biggest weakness, finding it the loudest vacuum in their test group. TechGearLab
What you give up
The dock takes floor space, and the robot carries a camera, which not everyone wants running in a hallway. eufy also never says how long the dock bag lasts, where both rivals rate theirs in days, so the one thing you cannot plan around here is how often you will be buying bags. And the mop-lift row stays blank: eufy's Amazon listing title advertises an auto-lifting mop, but the product page and the manual we capture never print a height, so the page will not score it.

$820 listpad mopself-emptying dock
The Roborock Q8 Max+ is the one that tells you how often you will touch the dock: Roborock states a self-emptying dock and rates the bag at 49 days between changes, where eufy states the dock but never the duration. It publishes 5,500 Pa, an anti-tangle brush, lidar mapping and the longest published runtime of the three, 240 min against the eufy X10 Pro Omni's 173 min, with iRobot publishing none at all for its model. What you trade for that is the mop: a flat pad the owner clips on and takes off by hand, which Vacuum Wars rates well below the average of the robots it has tested.
No Amazon listing for the bare unit has passed our identity check yet, so the link goes to the maker and we earn nothing on it. The maker lists it at $820.

Living with it
The mop is the thing to understand before buying. Reviewers report there is no lifting to speak of: you attach the pad to mop and pull it off before the robot touches carpet, so a mixed house is two runs rather than one. Vacuum Wars found it struggling with dried-on grape juice and coffee that the pricier Roborock S8+ handled in the same test. Vacuuming is the better half, with strong pet-hair pickup and lidar that maps different layouts reliably, and Vacuum Wars rating its battery well above the group average, though the same testers noted long human hair winding onto the rollers.
The robot still runs a full-home clean, a spot clean or a trip back to the dock with the network down, though scheduling and suction level need the app, and it joins the slower Wi-Fi band only. Roborock's support pages set the troubleshooting order: for lost suction, clean the bin and both filters before assuming a fault; for a new noise, pull the main brush, side brush and front wheel one at a time. It warns that the cliff sensors can read dark carpet as a drop-off and refuse to clean it, worth knowing before you buy a dark rug. There is a child lock, and the warranty is 1 year.

What you give up
A flat pad you fit and remove by hand, which on a mixed-floor house means two separate cleaning runs from now on. Roborock also publishes no threshold figure and no robot-only height for it, so two more checks this page runs come back empty, and it is the one pick of the three with no Amazon listing that has passed our identity check yet. If mopping is the point, the eufy X10 Pro Omni spins its pads and washes them at the dock.

The pick this page cannot judge, which is not a third place
$700 at Amazon, September 17, 2026two spinning pads mopself-emptying dock
The iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo is here because it is the Roomba people mean, not because the page can rank it. iRobot publishes no anti-tangle brush for it, and a shedding dog is exactly what that row is for, so the check comes back unknown rather than passed or failed, and the unit comes back unknown with it. It publishes no suction in pascals and no threshold. What it does publish, it publishes precisely: two spinning pads the dock washes and dries, and a dock bag iRobot rates at 75 days between changes, longer than the Roborock Q8 Max+'s 49 days. Vacuum Wars ranked it well down its overall list and rated it well under its own test-group average.

Living with it
Setup is the simplest of the three: stand the dock on a hard floor, clear of stairs by the margin iRobot specifies, then map from the app. The box ships with a spare dust bag and spare mop pads. Upkeep is wiping the bin, rinsing the dock's water tanks, cleaning the contacts and brushes, and a filter swap every few months. A cycle can start from the robot's button with no app and no network. Warranty is the standard limited one, and iRobot's paid plan treats the battery as a replaceable part.
Carpet is where the maker and the testers diverge. iRobot's page says the robot steers around carpet whenever it is mopping, so it skips rugs in those modes. Vacuum Wars reports the opposite in use: the pads lift reliably when the robot senses carpet, so a mixed home goes in one pass. iRobot publishes lidar mapping that it says avoids obstacles, while Vacuum Wars found no obstacle-avoidance camera or sensor on it at all. The rest is harder: one water level that leaves floors far wetter than most robots tested, an app they found consistently buggy, and the worst embedded-dirt pickup that reviewer has recorded on a Roomba. In its favour, the single roller resists hair wrap far better than iRobot's old twin rollers.

What owners and long-term reviewers report, from public threads and published reviews; not our own testing.
- Vacuum Wars' bottom line: the 405 fell short in nearly every key area they measure, with below-average suction/airflow, the worst deep-clean and pet-hair scores they've ever recorded for a Roomba, over-wet mopping, and no obstacle-avoidance sensors, plus a buggy app.vacuumwars.com
- After weeks of real-world testing, the reviewer went from having high hopes for iRobot's refreshed lineup to calling the 405 specifically a letdown.vacuumwars.com
- It landed at rank 70 out of the reviewer's full tested lineup with a well-below-average star rating.vacuumwars.com
- Its deep carpet-cleaning pickup came in well under the category average.vacuumwars.com
- It scored unusually high removing dried-on stains but only because it soaked floors with far more leftover water than average, which is a mopping negative, not a positive.vacuumwars.com
What independent testers found
We do not test units ourselves. These are figures and verdicts published by named testers, with the maker’s claim beside them where the tester gave it; where a tester relays owners’ reports rather than a measurement, the row says so.
| What | Finding | Tester |
|---|---|---|
| Debris pickup | 58% debris pickup in the deep carpet-cleaning test, versus a 75% average across tested robots | Vacuum Wars |
| Also noted | Only 17% of test hair tangled in the single roller brush in a 7-inch hair tangle evaluation, versus about 50% for iRobot's older dual-roller design | Vacuum Wars |
| Also noted | Navigation efficiency of 0.76 square meters per minute, a record for a Roomba model but still only 30th overall among robots tested | Vacuum Wars |
| Also noted | Scored 145 on the dried-on stain mopping test, far above the 93 category average | Vacuum Wars |
| Also noted | Left 5.20g of water behind on the floor after mopping, about 5x the amount left by the average robot tested | Vacuum Wars |
- Vacuum Wars concluded the 405 fell short in nearly every key area they test: below-average suction/airflow, the worst deep-clean and pet-hair pickup scores they've ever recorded for a Roomba, excessively wet mopping from its single water setting, no obstacle-avoidance sensors, and a still-buggy app. Vacuum Wars
- The reviewer ranked the 405 70th overall with a 1.66-star Vacuum Wars rating against a 2.8 average, despite having high hopes for iRobot's refreshed lineup going in. Vacuum Wars
What you give up
Three of the rows this page judges on are blank for iRobot, and one of those blanks is the pet-hair row, which is what drops it out of the judged group. The nearest thing to an answer is a tester's score rather than a maker's figure, and the deep-carpet result is the worst that tester has recorded on a Roomba. If the rugs and the dog are the job, the eufy X10 Pro Omni answers in writing what iRobot leaves open.

The two units in the roster that clear every check this house turns on are not Roborock, Roomba or eufy machines. They are the Narwal Freo X10 Pro and the Freo Z10 Turbo, and what clears them is the one row the three brands here leave empty: Narwal prints a mop-lift height for both, so the rug stops being a question the page has to leave open. On everything else they are doing what the eufy X10 Pro Omni already does, which is why that row alone decides it. Neither Narwal is on this page's table, because the question people type is these three brands; both are picks on The best robot vacuum for pet hair on hard floors, which judges the whole roster and links each one's specs and sources.

Buying it right
All three brands sell several generations under nearly the same name: Roborock runs two pages for the Q8 Max+, and iRobot's name for this robot is longer than most listings use. We link a listing only if its own title carries the brand and full model name with no bundle, variant or accessory word, or if its model number matches the maker's part number exactly. The eufy passed on the title and the Roomba on the part number, so both carry a checked Amazon price; the Roborock Q8 Max+ passed neither, so it carries a list price Roborock has been selling well under.

What this page can’t promise
Side by side means side by side on what the makers publish. Where a maker leaves a cell empty we leave it empty, and empty is not a zero: the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo may well have a tangle-resistant roller, and eufy's bag may well last as long as any. Neither says so in a line we can quote, and unknown is what that silence earns.
The mop-lift row is that silence with a twist: eufy's Amazon listing title advertises an auto-lifting mop, and Narwal prints a height for its robots, but eufy's product page and manual, which are what we capture, print none, so we do not carry it. Nothing here was tested by us: the measurements are Vacuum Wars' and TechGearLab's.
A dock bag rated in days is the maker's figure for the maker's house on the maker's schedule, and the page cannot know how fast a shedding dog on hard floors fills yours.
Questions people ask
Is the eufy X10 Pro Omni worth it over the Roborock Q8 Max+?
On what the two makers print, the eufy answers more of this house's questions: the only threshold figure of the three picks, the higher suction figure, and two spinning pads that the dock washes and dries, against a pad you fit and pull off by hand. The Roborock answers the one thing eufy does not, rating its dock bag in days, and Vacuum Wars rates its battery well above the group average. If you mop, the eufy. If you want long runs and a bag you can plan around, the Roborock.
Which has the most suction?
By published figure, the eufy X10 Pro Omni at 8,000 Pa, ahead of the Roborock Q8 Max+ at 5,500 Pa. iRobot publishes no pascal figure for any Roomba on this page, so the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo has no entry on that row at all, which is not the same as a low one. A pascal figure is also the maker's own bench number rather than a cleaning result, and the tester scores under each pick are closer to the latter.
Which climbs the highest threshold?
Only eufy publishes a threshold figure here: 21 mm for the eufy X10 Pro Omni. Roborock and iRobot publish none for any model on this page, so between the three picks that row is one number and two blanks. Read it with eufy's other figure, because the manual tells you not to run the robot on rugs above a thickness lower than that clearance. Put your own threshold in the adjust box and the units without a figure move to unknown, not to a pass or a fail we would have had to invent.
Which one tells you how often to change the dock bag?
Roborock and iRobot both rate it, and the two figures are far apart: 49 days for the Roborock Q8 Max+ against 75 days for the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo. eufy states that the eufy X10 Pro Omni has a self-emptying dock but publishes no duration at all, so that cell stays empty rather than short. Each of those ratings is the maker's own figure for the maker's house, and nobody independent has checked either one.
Which is best for a shedding dog?
On published specs, eufy and Roborock both state an anti-tangle brush and iRobot states none for this model, so the eufy X10 Pro Omni and the Roborock Q8 Max+ pass that check and the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo returns unknown on it, which is what makes the whole unit unknown here. The reports complicate it: Vacuum Wars found the Roomba's single roller resists hair wrap far better than iRobot's older twin-roller design, and found long human hair still wrapping the Roborock's.
Is any of the three quiet?
No maker publishes a noise figure for any of the three picks, so there is nothing to compare on paper. The only measurement anyone has taken is TechGearLab's on the eufy X10 Pro Omni, which its lab found the loudest robot in the group it compared, with the reading swinging widely over a single run. That figure sits under the pick with the tester named. Nothing comparable exists for the other two.
Other houses we judged
- Half acre, no wireThe best robot lawn mower for a half acre with no perimeter wire
A half-acre lawn, one continuous piece, a slope you notice when you push a mower up it, and no wire you are willing to bury. Every robot mower we track, judged against that yard from the limits its own maker publishes.
- Small yardThe best robot lawn mower for a small yard
A small suburban lawn, a gentle grade, and a couple of beds to steer around. Almost every robot mower we track clears a yard this size, so the question stops being which one is big enough and starts being which one is worth what it costs.
- Inground poolThe best robotic pool cleaner for an inground pool
An inground pool of ordinary size, with walls that need scrubbing as much as the floor does. Every robotic cleaner we track, judged against it on the pool length and wall climbing the makers publish, and then on what independent testers found when they ran the machines.
- Above-ground poolThe best robotic pool cleaner for an above-ground pool
An above-ground pool 24 feet across, on a soft liner, with a wall you can reach over. The maker's own pool-type rating decides this page before anything else gets a say: it rules out 4 of the 13 cleaners judged here on its own.
- Three catsThe best automatic litter box for multiple cats
3 cats, one of them big and one of them small, and one box that has to serve all of them. Two published limits decide it: the number of cats the maker rates the box for, and the weight range its sensors were built around.
- Pet hair, hard floorsThe best robot vacuum for pet hair on hard floors
A shedding dog or two cats, hard floors through most of the house, low thresholds between the rooms, and a wish that the bin emptied itself. Every robot vacuum we track, judged against that house from the limits its maker publishes rather than from a lab's dust-pickup score.
- GuideMeasure before you buy
Every home robot is sold against a limit, and every maker calls that limit something different on its spec page. Here is how to get your own numbers first.
- GuideApps, subscriptions and what stops working offline
Every one of these machines still moves without the internet. What you lose is the map, the schedule, the history and, on some of them, the reason you paid extra.
- GuideRecalls and battery safety for home robots
Five recalls cover every robotic pool cleaner, mower, vacuum and litter box sold in the United States since 2020, and every one of them was about heat.
