Roomba vs. eufy
The brand that invented the category against the one that undercuts it, judged for one house: hard floors, pets, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted. Five models, and one maker that leaves the pet-hair rows blank.
For hard floors with pets, the eufy X10 Pro Omni: 8,000 Pa of suction, a mop (two spinning pads), a self-emptying dock, an anti-tangle brush, at $900 list and $450 on Amazon when checked. eufy publishes every row this house turns on. iRobot does not publish a suction figure for any Roomba here and does not say whether the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo's brush is anti-tangle, so the Roomba side is judged on what iRobot does state.
What iRobot states for the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo is a mop (two spinning pads) it washes itself and a dock rated for 75 days, at $800 list and $700 on Amazon. The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max does publish an anti-tangle brush and was $700 against a $1,400 list; the iRobot Roomba 105 Combo at $299 is the cheapest self-emptying combo on the page. The eufy 11S Max at $140 publishes neither a mop nor a dock.

Who this is for
Read on if it is Roomba or eufy and you want what the two makers publish about suction, mop, dock and brush side by side, with the blanks marked rather than filled in. The three-way page adds Roborock.
Against the same house
The house is hard floors, a shedding dog, a mop and a self-emptying dock wanted, and each of those wants becomes a check against something a maker has to have published. The dog asks for an anti-tangle brush: eufy states one for the eufy X10 Pro Omni; iRobot states one for the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max and is silent for the other two Roombas. The dock asks for a self-emptying base, which every combo here has.
If your own floors have rugs, pick a rug setting in the box below. It then asks whether the maker publishes a mop-lift height, a row every model on this page leaves empty.
Adjust to your house. Change the numbers and this box re-judges the models compared here against your house, with the same rules and the same maker figures. The picks and tables above stay on the page’s own house.

Living with it
What you notice first is how little the robot asks of you: Vacuum Wars found the dock empties the bin, washes and dries the pads and refills the mop tank without being asked. The app is the weaker half by the same review. On the floor, the front brush was weaker on fine grit on hard floors, and TechGearLab found it the loudest robot in its lab group.

What long-term reviewers and owners report, each line cited to its published source; not our own testing.
- Vacuum Wars found the mop pads exert real downward pressure and fully lifted dried-on coffee and grape-juice stains in testing. vacuumwars.com
- The self-emptying, self-washing dock gives owners a largely hands-off routine between manual cleanings. vacuumwars.com
- TechGearLab's lab measurements found noise swinging from 59 dB up to over 100 dB, making it by far the loudest vacuum in their tests. techgearlab.com
- The companion app is buggier and less polished than competing apps, with lag in the live cleaning map. vacuumwars.com
- In the first round of Vacuum Wars' debris tests it ran erratically, trying to avoid the larger debris rather than pick it up. vacuumwars.com
What independent testers found
We do not test units ourselves. These are figures and verdicts published by named testers, with the maker’s claim beside them where the tester gave it; where a tester relays owners’ reports rather than a measurement, the row says so.
| What | Finding | Tester |
|---|---|---|
| Noise | Noise fluctuated from 59 dB up to 100+ dB during cleaning, per lab measurement | TechGearLab |
| Noted | Covered about 138 sq ft per charge in real-world navigation testing, rated above average | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Spinning mop pads exert about 1 kg (2 lb) of downward pressure while mopping, more than most competitors tested | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Mapped the tester's floor plan in about 5 minutes using quick mapping | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Square-ish shape let it clean flush against walls and corners, though tiny debris sometimes escaped suction at the edges | TechGearLab |
- Vacuum Wars concluded the X10 Pro Omni delivers flagship-level features and strong value despite minor app and pickup nitpicks. Vacuum Wars
- TechGearLab flagged noise as the X10 Pro Omni's biggest weakness, finding it the loudest vacuum in their test group. TechGearLab

Carpet is where the maker and the testers diverge: iRobot's page says the robot steers around carpet whenever it is mopping, and owners report the pads lift reliably when it senses carpet. Vacuum Wars found a single water level that leaves floors far wetter than most robots it has tested and an app that stayed buggy through testing; in its favour, a single roller that resists hair wrap far better than a two-brush design.

What long-term reviewers report, each line cited to its published source; not our own testing.
- After weeks of real-world testing, the reviewer went from having high hopes for iRobot's refreshed lineup to calling the 405 specifically a letdown. vacuumwars.com
- It landed at rank 70 out of the reviewer's full tested lineup with a well-below-average star rating. vacuumwars.com
- Its deep carpet-cleaning pickup came in well under the category average. vacuumwars.com
- It scored unusually high removing dried-on stains but only because it soaked floors with far more leftover water than average, which is a mopping negative, not a positive. vacuumwars.com
What independent testers found
We do not test units ourselves. These are figures and verdicts published by named testers, with the maker’s claim beside them where the tester gave it; where a tester relays owners’ reports rather than a measurement, the row says so.
| What | Finding | Tester |
|---|---|---|
| Debris pickup | 58% debris pickup in the deep carpet-cleaning test, versus a 75% average across tested robots | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | picked up only about half of the flattened pet hair on carpet, the lowest score the reviewer had recorded | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Only 17% of test hair tangled in the single roller brush in a 7-inch hair tangle evaluation, versus about 50% for iRobot's older dual-roller design | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Navigation efficiency of 0.76 square meters per minute, a record for a Roomba model but still only 30th overall among robots tested | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Scored 145 on the dried-on stain mopping test, far above the 93 category average | Vacuum Wars |
| Noted | Left 5.20g of water behind on the floor after mopping, about 5x the amount left by the average robot tested | Vacuum Wars |
- Vacuum Wars concluded the 405 fell short in nearly every key area they test: below-average suction/airflow, the worst deep-clean and pet-hair pickup scores they've ever recorded for a Roomba, excessively wet mopping from its single water setting, no obstacle-avoidance sensors, and a still-buggy app. Vacuum Wars
- The reviewer ranked the 405 70th overall with a 1.66-star Vacuum Wars rating against a 2.8 average, despite having high hopes for iRobot's refreshed lineup going in. Vacuum Wars

“Not captured” means the maker’s page we captured does not state it: a gap in our record, not a zero, and never filled from a sibling model. “No verified listing” means no Amazon listing for the bare unit passed our identity check yet. A price marked “list” is the maker’s list price, shown where no listing passed; a bare price is what the verified Amazon listing showed when we checked.

What this page can’t promise
Side by side means what the makers publish, and an empty cell is not a zero. The iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo may well have a tangle-resistant roller; iRobot does not say so in a line we can quote, and unknown is what silence earns.
Nothing here was tested by us. The tester findings under each pick belong to the named testers, and the complaints are owners' reports. Every unit on this page was selling under its list price when checked.
A dock bag rated in days is the maker's figure for the maker's house on the maker's schedule, and the page cannot know how fast a shedding dog on hard floors fills yours.
Questions people ask
Is Roomba or eufy better for pet hair on hard floors?
On published figures, the eufy X10 Pro Omni: eufy states 8,000 Pa of suction and an anti-tangle brush. iRobot states neither for the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo; the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max is the Roomba that does publish an anti-tangle brush.
Which dock holds more?
By the makers' claims, the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo's dock at 75 days. eufy publishes the X10 Pro Omni's dock bag as 2,500 ml rather than in days.
Which is cheaper?
When checked, the eufy X10 Pro Omni was $450 on Amazon against a $900 list and the iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Combo was $700 against $800. The buy lines show the check date.
Other houses we judged
- Half acre, no wireThe best robot lawn mower with no perimeter wire, for a half-acre yard
A half-acre lawn, one continuous piece, a slope you notice when you push a mower up it, and no wire you are willing to bury. Every robot mower we track, judged against that yard from the limits its own maker publishes.
- Small yardThe best robot lawn mower for a small yard
A small suburban lawn, a gentle grade, and a couple of beds to steer around. Almost every robot mower we track clears a yard this size, so the question stops being which one is big enough and starts being which one is worth what it costs.
- Inground poolThe best robotic pool cleaner for an inground pool
An inground pool of ordinary size, with walls that need scrubbing as much as the floor does. Every robotic cleaner we track, judged against it on the pool length and wall climbing the makers publish, and then on what independent testers found when they ran the machines.
- Above-ground poolThe best robotic pool cleaner for an above-ground pool
An above-ground pool 24 feet across, on a soft liner, with a wall you can reach over. The maker's own pool-type rating decides this page before anything else gets a say: it rules out 5 of the 13 cleaners judged here on its own.
- Three catsThe best automatic litter box for multiple cats
3 cats, one of them big and one of them small, and one box that has to serve all of them. Two published limits decide it: the number of cats the maker rates the box for, and the weight range its sensors were built around.
- Pet hair, hard floorsThe best robot vacuum for pet hair on hard floors
A shedding dog or two cats, hard floors through most of the house, low thresholds between the rooms, and a wish that the bin emptied itself. Two robot vacuums come out of that house as picks, judged from the limits their makers publish rather than from a lab's dust-pickup score.
