At two cats on clumping litter, only the Whisker Litter-Robot 4 clears every limit its maker publishes. The PETKIT Purobot Max Pro 2 and the Neakasa M1 Plus both come back the same way, "Maker does not publish the limit". Neither of them states how many cats its box is meant for, and PETKIT publishes no cat-weight range in text either, so that is a verdict about what each company has written down rather than a low score for the machine. The Whisker Litter-Robot 4 is the pick because it is the one you can check before you spend the money, and the other two are here because anyone comparing these three should see where the record stops.
The blanks are what separate them. Whisker fills in every column here: a cat count, a weight range, a litter type, a drawer rating and whether the app costs anything to run. Neakasa fills in a weight range, a bin volume, an entry height and a noise figure, then leaves the cat count and the litter type empty. PETKIT states a warranty and little else in text. A blank is not a zero, and it is not a pass either: the page will not fill one in, and it will not score a limit nobody published as one the box has cleared.

It is the only one of the three whose maker fills in every column here, which is why the other two are read against it rather than the other way round. It is also the dearest, at $699 on Amazon when we checked, and it asks the most of a cat, with the highest step-in here at 15.8 in.

Living with it
Whisker's instructions set the rhythm. You fill the globe to just under the raised fill line rather than by eye, and the globe needs a full wash only every month or few. Carbon filters and odor-trap packs get changed every few weeks, and Whisker sells them as a kit with liners and wipes at a discount. The free app covers weight-based cat identification and daily usage; the paid Whisker+ tier adds longer history and video for a monthly fee, and the box cycles without it. The app wants the slower of the two Wi-Fi bands. Warranty is 1 year and extendable, and Whisker staffs a phone line with live agents.
Owners report this machine tends to fail early if it fails at all. Some say it stopped rotating after about a month; others that it stopped cycling inside the first two months, and Whisker's fix was a replacement power adapter rather than a new unit. Some describe pressing the reset button on the cowling over and over to keep it running, and some say urine works its way under the globe assembly and leaves an odor cleaning does not lift. Owners who stay with it say they would not go back to a tray, and Cats.com's reviewers call it likely the best self-cleaning box on the market.

Price, and the shortest base warranty of the three: 1 year against 2 years from both PETKIT and Neakasa. The drum also asks a cat to walk into an enclosed chamber and step up higher than either rival. If that is the sticking point rather than the money, the Neakasa M1 Plus is the open-top answer and costs less, at the price of every column it leaves blank.

PETKIT's own page for the Purobot Max Pro 2 states its cat-weight range, its drawer rating, its entry height and its litter compatibility only in images, so none of them can be quoted and none can be checked against this house. Its verdict on this page reads: Maker does not publish the limit. That is an answer about PETKIT's record rather than a mark against the machine. What survives the check is this: a warranty of 2 years on PETKIT's own policy page, a manual that is unusually specific about living with it, and an Amazon listing that passes our identity rule at $485, against a $550 list price.

Living with it
PETKIT's manual is where the running costs hide. The waste bin takes PETKIT's own bags rather than a generic liner, and PETKIT sells them by the pack, a standing cost the list price does not include. Cleaning is framed as parts replacement rather than wiping down: the manual tells owners to clean or replace the cylinder, the litter sifter, the base, the sensor, the camera and the litter pad regularly. Refilling after the first setup is done from the app's maintenance mode, which turns the cylinder's opening upward so you pour in rather than tipping the machine.
The camera is the part with a subscription attached. Full video playback needs PETKIT's Care+ tier, a non-refundable virtual good the manual says can move to another Max Pro unit once a year; outside the camera's scheduled hours it records nothing and you get a short live-stream window instead. The box pauses and alerts you if a cat steps back in mid-cycle, and granules above the manual's stated size ceiling jam the sifter. The warranty is voided if the parts go through a dishwasher, and claims go by email, not a phone line. No independent tester has run this model, so there is nothing to hold PETKIT's own account against; the nearest thing on the record is under the competition below.

The Neakasa M1 Plus is the only open top of the three, which is the reason to consider it: a cat that will not walk into a drum has somewhere to go. It takes the widest weight range here, 2.2 lb to 33 lb, rates its bin by volume, 11.2 L, rather than in days, and publishes a noise figure, 50 dB, which the other two do not. It still cannot be judged here: Neakasa states neither a cat count nor a litter type. It is the cheapest of the three at $423 on Amazon when we checked, against a $380 list price, and its warranty runs 2 years.

Living with it
Neakasa is the least locked-down of the three: its FAQ says any bag that fits the waste drawer will do, though it sells its own. The first fill goes by the printed scale on the chamber, not by eye. The FAQ puts emptying at about every two weeks for a single cat, checkable in the app. If Wi-Fi drops, the box keeps cleaning on its last settings but per-cat logging stops until it reconnects. The weight sensors hold it still for the whole time a cat is inside, not only as it steps in. Kittens under the published minimum need Kitten Mode with automatic cleaning off.
Owners report a mixed first fortnight. At least one cat refused it outright and appeared to be in pain near it, and that owner went back to the old tray. A recurring complaint is urine leaking through a gap in the interior mat's seam, which Neakasa now ships silicone sealing stickers to close. Owners also report the bin flagging itself full when clumps pile up unevenly, which shuts the machine down until it is cleared, and one single-cat owner filled the bin in under a week. One more PETKIT sits in the tables without being a pick: the Purobot Ultra, another machine in the same Purobot line. It is here because anyone comparing PETKITs will meet it, and it is not a pick because the page cannot judge it against this house either. It is also the only Purobot anybody has lived with on the record. Katelynn Sobus ran it hands-on for cats.com for over six weeks and came away positive about the experience but not the price: her verdict was that facial-recognition mix-ups and a shallow stool check-up feature leave it not worth the hefty price tag.

What this page can’t promise
Side by side means side by side on what the makers publish. An empty cell is neither a failing grade nor a pass: PETKIT may suit more cats than this house has, and Neakasa may be fine on clumping litter, but neither says so anywhere we can quote.
Nothing here was tested by us: the measured figures and review scores belong to the testers named beside them, and the complaints are owners' reports. Where a maker's own documents disagree we print both, as Neakasa's manual and policy page do on warranty. Both longer terms depend on when you bought: Neakasa covers units bought since the start of this year, PETKIT only units bought since the start of last year.

Can the PETKIT or Neakasa handle three cats?
Nobody can tell you from the record. Whisker states up to 4 cats for the Litter-Robot 4; PETKIT and Neakasa never say how many cats their boxes are meant for, at any number. Put a cat count in the house, as this page does, and both boxes come back the same way: Maker does not publish the limit. Either box may well handle three. The page will not say so on their behalf.
Is the PETKIT a worse box because the page cannot judge it?
No. That verdict describes what PETKIT has published, not how the machine behaves: its own product page puts the numbers in pictures, and a picture cannot be quoted or checked. PETKIT does publish a warranty covering this model, and its manual is specific about bags, replaceable parts, the size of litter that jams the sifter and what the camera records. Everything the page prints for it comes from those two documents.
Which one is quietest?
Only Neakasa publishes a noise figure, 50 dB, so the record holds one maker number and two blanks. Cats.com measured the Whisker Litter-Robot 4 while it was cycling, and that figure sits under the pick above with the tester named. A tester's measurement and a maker's claim are not taken on the same basis, so the two do not belong in a straight comparison, and nobody we can cite has measured the PETKIT Purobot Max Pro 2 at all.
What if a cat refuses to use it?
Owners report that it happens. One cat refused the Neakasa M1 Plus outright and seemed to be in pain near it, and its owner went back to the old tray, while other cats took days to settle. So the return window matters more than any spec here. Whisker ships the Litter-Robot 4 with an in-home trial and refunds the purchase price if it does not work out, with the owner paying return shipping. PETKIT and Neakasa publish no return terms we can quote.
Does the drawer rating hold up for two cats?
No, and only one of the three publishes a drawer rating to begin with. Whisker's figure for the Litter-Robot 4 is for a single cat, so two cats roughly halve it, which is our division and not a Whisker claim. Neakasa publishes a bin volume rather than a duration, and PETKIT's drawer rating for the Purobot Max Pro 2 sits in an image, so neither column can be read against Whisker's on the same basis.
Can I use crystal litter in these?
Whisker names clumping clay for the Litter-Robot 4 and warns that translucent or white litters such as crystal throw off its litter-level and drawer-full sensing, so the one maker that answers says no. Neither PETKIT nor Neakasa states a litter type in text, so changing the litter moves them out of the judging rather than through it: a missing litter type is a limit the page cannot judge, never one the box has cleared.
