No Roomba on Amazon passes all five of our pet-and-floor checks, so for pets that shed, buy the Roomba Max 715 Vac ($699). Of the 17 Roombas we track, 14 were sold new on Amazon when we checked (November 2, 2026), from $269 to $1,300; 14 of those 14 have a self-emptying dock, and 9 empty for up to 75 days by iRobot's figure.

Roomba comparison chart 2026: what the model names mean
The word after the number tells you if it mops: Vac only vacuums, Combo vacuums and mops. On the Plus and Max lines, every Combo’s dock washes the mop. The models with just a number have a pad you rinse by hand. iRobot does not say what the X in names like 105X means, so compare the figures, not the letters.

Heights and thresholds are iRobot’s numbers. iRobot’s support page says every Roomba crosses thresholds up to 16 mm (5/8 in) and does not say single or double step; the iRobot Roomba Plus 575 Combo page says 35 mm. Each model’s own figures are in the table below.
Who makes Roomba now: iRobot filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 14, 2025 (Vacuum Wars). It came out on January 23, 2026, and is now wholly owned by Picea, the China-based company that built its robots and lent it money (iRobot). Roombas are still sold new on Amazon.

Roombas we left out
The j7+ and the Combo j9+ showed up on Amazon only from third-party sellers or as renewed units when we searched on November 2, 2026. The Roomba 205 DustCompactor showed up only as a used unit from Amazon Resale. We link only new, in-stock, bare listings, so none of these is in the table. In our catalog but with no bare listing: iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max, iRobot Roomba Plus 415 Combo, iRobot Roomba 205 Combo.
Amazon also lists newer names such as the 705X and Max 715 Pet. They are not in our catalog yet because we have not read their limits from iRobot’s pages. We add a model only after we have.
How to choose a Roomba
Thresholds first. Measure your tallest door strip or rug edge and compare it with each figure.
Then the dock. A bag dock empties the robot into a bag you swap every couple of months. A washing dock also rinses and dries the mop, so you stop handling wet pads. The table says which is which.
Then the mop. A flat microfiber pad drags behind the robot. Two spinning pads scrub. A roller mop is iRobot’s newest design. iRobot says the spinning pads on the Plus models lift when the robot senses carpet ahead; it gives no lift height, so we cannot judge how deep a rug they clear.
Then height. Measure the gap under your lowest bed or sofa. The robot needs more room than its own height to get under.

What refills cost a year
The refill column uses iRobot’s own parts at Amazon, times how often iRobot says to replace them. The dock bags last up to 75 days by iRobot’s figure; iRobot says to change the filter every 3 to 6 months. A part listing must name the model before we count it, so some models show “some parts not published”. Each model page shows the math row by row.

Does a Roomba lift its mop on carpet?
iRobot's Plus 505X page says the mop pads auto-lift when the robot senses carpet ahead, but it gives no lift height. None of the iRobot pages we read gives a mop-lift figure, so we cannot say how deep a rug any Roomba mops past without touching it. If you have thick rugs and want to mop, a model with a published lift height is the safer buy.
